Federal Courthouse Building (Austin TX) | photography by CASEY DUNN | Summer 2013

Last summer, we featured Casey’s photography of the Clifford Ross Glass Installation at Austin’s Federal Courthouse Building.

Here, Casey elaborates on the experience. Shooting both interiors and exteriors for multiple clients over two months allowed him to study the space in all lighting conditions. A luxury he wishes he had on all projects!

Last year I was commissioned by White Construction, artist Clifford Ross, and a team of local and national contractors and architects to document the federal courthouse building in Austin, Texas.

While shooting the architectural elements of the building, I simultaneously worked with Ross on a book focusing on the interior glass wall installation. It was quite the creative exercise, switching between the two projects and clients on the same grounds.

Pleasing multiple clients is often the architectural photographer’s dilemma but, fortunately, this situation helped produce a final library of diverse images beneficial to everyone.

As a native Austinite, I considered it a great honor to be able to work with such an amazing collection of creatives and builders on a project that will stand as a fixture in this city long after I’ve gone.
